Theatre Exchange Play Selection Announced – Capital Theatre festival

Earlier in the year we teamed up with Capital Theatre Festival to look for an exciting piece of new writing to be transferred from our scratch nights to the festival. We had dozens of fantastic submissions and have chosen Joy Child by Christopher Adams, it will be presented as a full rehearsed reading at MAC on Saturday 23rd November at 4pm. You can read more about Christopher, his play and how to get involved if you’re an actor on the Capital Theatre Website. Thank you to all of the playwrights who submitted their work to Theatre Exchange as part of this process.

Theatre Exchange and The New Venture.

Firstly a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported Theatre Exchange so far. We’re entering a new phase from November 2013 which means a changes are afoot.   Our focus, as always, is to support and facilitate the growth of theatre in our region. We will showcase new writing extracts performed by professional actors, provide a platform to plug your upcoming shows and have a guest speaker at each event. The difference being that we will operate on a quarterly basis and visit other venues as well as The Old Joint Stock.

We will hold four events:

November 2013The Old Joint Stock , Birmingham

January 2014Theatre Absolute, Coventry

April 2014:  Birmingham REP, Birmingham

Summer 2014: SHOWCASE. At a venue tbc we will have a producers showcase with 30 minute extracts of new writing; one chosen piece from each of the three events.

So a little healthy competition and the opportunity to take the pieces further.

We’re very excited about this venture and hope you will be too. Submissions for the November event will be opening soon so if you haven’t already please join our mailing list to keep updated.
